Are you interested in applying to the Homegrown Innovation Challenge? Don’t worry, there’s still time. The sample application for the Shepherd Phase is available. If you want to know what you’ll need to apply, download our sample application now. Note that applications will be filled and submitted via our online grant portal SmartSimple and will be live by late September 2022.
During the Shepherd Phase, ten grants of up to $1 million will be awarded to innovation teams to develop a small-scale proof-of-concept over 18 months for a growing system to address the Challenge statement: Create and deliver a market-ready system to reliably, sustainably and competitively produce berries out of season and at scale in Canada.
Should you need to discuss your application further, the Homegrown Innovation Challenge team is offering 15-minute chats about your proposed solution. The Weston Family Foundation and our partners can also help you to identify team members and strategic partnerships. If you are looking for this type of support, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us right away at firstname.lastname@example.org.
